Many children today have emotional, behavioral, school, social, economic and/or family difficulties. We help children and parents overcome their difficulties and strengthen problem solving, coping and success skills.  We work with schools and agencies to strengthen family and child resources. 

We have an outstanding multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and nurses,  We offer services in English and Spanish.  


Child Outpatient Services  

We offer a full array of psychiatric and behavioral health services for children, adolescents, parents and families.  Our goals include improving the school success, emotional, behavioral, family, social, communication and problem solving skills of children in distress.  We help troubled and significantly impaired youth to overcome barriers and problems. We collaborate closely with schools, pediatricians and outside collateral support systems to insure stability and success.  We focus on improving child and parent coping skills.  Our unit has a huge number of programs, groups, therapeutic modalities and speciality services to help children and parents.  

Child Inpatient Services

The Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit is comprised of two components: The Children’s Crisis Intervention Service (CCIS) and the Intermediate Sub-Acute Unit.  The goal of both units is to provide psychiatric stabilization and treatment to children in extreme distress.  The treatment is provided within the the guiding philosophy of a therapeutic community and implemented by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.  The inpatient units help to assure safe stabilization and positive discharge direction for children.  We help children learn positive boundary, limit setting, self control, coping, communication and behavior skills.  

Mobile Response Services

The Children’s Mobile Response and Stabilization System (CMRSS) was developed by the Partnership for Children in coordination with Trinitas Regional Medical Center.  The CMRSS provides immediate and intensive services with the goal of maintaining children in the community and their home environment.  We work together with families to maximize strengths and provide services to support family member relationships.  Click on the website tab above to learn more about our services.  


DBT Program

Our Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidence-based psychotherapeutic program designed to treat adolescents and young adults (ages 12-18) who exhibit difficulty regulating their emotions and behavior. Developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, DBT was originally created to treat adult women who were chronically suicidal, self-injuring, and exhibiting symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder. It has since been adapted for teens and families.  Through a supportive and validating therapeutic environment, behavioral skills are developed to improve impulse control, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, overall functioning and replacing harmful ways of thinking and behaving with healthy ones.  For more information go to:   


Partial Hospital Program

Our Partial Hospital Programs offers both full and half day services.  One of our Full Day Treatment Program provides services for children ages 5-17 with a variety of behavioral and psychiatric difficulties.  Our other full day program, the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program (MICA) provides services for teenagers ages 13-17 to help these teenagers overcome emotional, behavioral and substance abuse problems.  These programs include an educational component.  We also have two half day programs.  Youth who are 18 and still enrolled in school may attend our day treatment, MICA or after school programs.  Program services include psychiatric evaluation, group, individual, family and milieu therapy.  Medication monitoring is provided as needed.  

On Site School Programs

Our Wellness Management and School Counseling Services are provided on site for schools to help children overcome barriers that get in the way of their academic success.  Many children today have emotional, learning and behavior difficulties that interfere with their achievement and the achievement of students around them.  We have over 25 years of experience in providing on site school programs to help students, parents and teachers succeed.  We help improve teacher effectiveness.  We provide teachers with easy to use tools and techniques to improve student achievement and behavior.  Our programs help at risk students build the critical skills they need for life long success. Our programs are tailored to your school’s needs and financial resources.     

New Point Specialty Program

The New Point Specialty is a 15 bed facility serving adolescents between the age of 12 and 18 requiring extended voluntary treatment (minimum 180 days).  Referrals are made by the Division of Children’s Behavioral Healthcare Services, Contract Systems Administrator (Perform Care).  Adolescents receive individual, milieu and group psychotherapy services.  We have a multi disciplinary highly effective staff that helps adolescents with severe behavior, legal and emotional problems to build the skills they need to overcome their difficulties.   


Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center is based in Cranford. We offer psychiatric assessment, individual, group and family psychotherapy.   

Crisis Screening Center

TRMC Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) provides assessment for children, adolescents and adults.  PES has 7 extended care crisis beds and can hold patients up to 24 hours.  PES operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week with a psychiatrist available at all times.   The goal of the psychiatric ER is to provide clinical assessment and crisis stabilization in the most clinically appropriate and least restrictive setting.  Upon entry clients are evaluated by a Registered Nurse.  If it is determined that an individual is in need of psychiatric services the clinical team, comprised of the psychiatrist, nurse and mental health screener, conduct a comprehensive assessment.  A relevant, effective and appropriate treatment plan is then developed for clients to access the services they need.
